Essay On “Firefly” And SW’s Influence

November 28, 2010

Frequent visitor Bob Clark has posted this essay on Joss Whedon’s cult t.v. show “Firefly” and he mentions the prequel trilogy’s influence on the show and the subsequent film “Serenity.” Angry Browncoats are offended even though the entire piece is complimentary toward the series!

New AOTC Diorama From Sideshow

November 28, 2010

You too can own this immortalization of Anakin Skywalker taking out the whole Tusken Raider village from Sideshow Collectibles.

I’m guessing this diorama’s price will run about the same as its predecessors, $200+. Pre-orders are on December 2.

New Art From Acme Direct

November 19, 2010

Artist Christian Waggoner has created an amazing new piece called “Jango Fett” for Acme, although if you ask me, it probably should have been called “The Last Thing Jango Fett Ever Saw.” Priced at $125 for a paper print, $325 for a glicee print, or $1125 for a canvas print, this could look amazing in your living room.

New Items From Gentle Giant

November 18, 2010

It seems like it’s been a while since Gentle Giant has produced any PT/CW-related stuff, but there are two new items for pre-order. One is a Pre Vizsla maquette for $95 and an Aurra Sing mini bust for $75. These items are due out in 2011.

Ahsoka’s New Duds

November 16, 2010

A couple of you have noticed that Obi-Wan looks a little different in that Savage Opress preview video and we recently got a glimpse of Ahsoka’s new outfit in the last issue of the Star Wars Insider, which will debut in this week’s episode “Heroes On Both Sides.” Wired.com has a promo shot of Ahsoka v 2.0:

My guess is “Heroes On Both Sides” takes place not all that long before ROTS; Ahsoka clearly looks, um, older. Supposedly, Anakin’s look will also “evolve” this season.

Update: starwars.com has more pictures and video of its character model updates.

Networking With Your Favorite Personalities

November 15, 2010

One way to keep up with what your favorite Star Wars guys are up to is through the magical world of social networking. Okay, some of them are not on Twitter or Facebook or that oldie goldie, MySpace. Or if they are, it’s under another name. But anyone can friend, follow, or like the ones who are there. The advantage is that you can keep up with convention appearances, roles in other t.v. shows and movies, Clone Wars news, etc.. You can even post your own support for these guys. Unfortunately, I’ve found that anything or anybody not specifically affiliated with the prequels or Clone Wars gets posts from bashers. The other disadvantage is that you may end up learning more about a personality than you might want to know. Approach with caution!

Here’s where you can find prequel/Clone Wars related folks on Facebook:
