Star Wars Deaths In 8-Bit Animation

March 24, 2016

It looks like it has been floating around since January but until today, I hadn’t seen this video by Pipoca Effects that recounts most of the famous death scenes in Eps I-VII (for some reason Padme’s demise isn’t in this) in 8-bit animation.

The opening crawl is hilarious.

Maul Returns In “Rebels” Season Finale

March 24, 2016

Darth Maul’s fate was left up in the air when Clone Wars got the hook but it looks like he returns in some shape or form in the March 30 “Rebels” season finale.

An interview with Dave Filoni suggests that the genesis behind this episode was wish fulfillment of seeing Darth Maul battle Darth Vader but wouldn’t say if that’s what will happen (a similar battle royale happened in one of the Star Wars Infinities comics back in the ’00s).

Many are also speculating that this could also be the long-dreaded showdown between Ahsoka and Vader that may send everyone’s favorite spunky Togruta off to Star Wars Valhalla.

Fangirl Fashion Site Calls For More Padmé Stuff

March 19, 2016

The Kessel Runway is an all-Star Wars fangirl/geek girl fashion site and today it has a nice retrospective on Padmé Amidala-inspired stuff along with a call for more things inspired by the galaxy’s most fashionable woman:

With growing public awareness of female Star Wars fans, I’d love to see more female character representation in women’s Star Wars fashion. Women’s Star Wars apparel has been gathering momentum for a little while now, but much of it still relies on imagery of droids and male characters. The most referenced characters are R2-D2 and Darth Vader – but if there’s one Star Wars character most associated with fashion and cosmetics, it would be Padme’ Amidala. We hear stories of passionate female Star Wars fans choosing Padme’s outfits as inspiration for their wedding gowns – so why can’t we buy Padme’ Amidala-themed dresses? She wears make-up, nail polish, gorgeous gowns – and picks up a blaster and charges in battle to save her planet, of course I want to show my love of her character in my wardrobe!

Top 10 PT Creatures According To Me

March 18, 2016

Top 10 PT (movie) creatures according to me:

There are so many creatures created for the just the prequel saga alone, not counting the Clone Wars. Terryl Whitlach designed a lot of them for TPM and there were plenty more created for AOTC and ROTS. Picking just 10 is tough!

10. Gualaar

A what? These were the unicorn-like creatures used in Padmé’s funeral scene in ROTS. This and similar equine type creatures were created as royal horses for TPM but these were the most visible and weren’t used until Episode III. Beautiful and regal.

9. Shaak

I like big butts and I cannot lie…

Seriously though, these were created for TPM and supposedly seen in one shot (I can’t think of what point in the movie) but were prominently featured in AOTC during Anakin and Padmé’s picnic romp.

8. Sando aqua monster

There’s always a bigger fish.

7. Eopie

Tatooine’s answer to camels.  And like camels they poop all over the place and cut the cheese a lot.

6. Aiwah

Flying whales!

5. Nuna

They’re little and barely noticeable but one of those creatures that add detail and life to the GFFA.

4. Acklay

One big scary grasshopper.

3. Reek

This bull-like horned lizard makes for great transportation once you’ve calmed it down with the Force.

2. Nexu

Soft nexu warm nexu little ball of fur…

1. Boga

Fast, fiercely loyal (Obi-Wan’s boga saved his life after all), cool-looking, able to climb anywhere, and I love its call.

PT Stuff Somehow Ends Up On Hot Topic Socks

March 16, 2016

The prequels tend to be forgotten in the current world of geek/fan fashion, an injustice I rail against constantly.

However, someone making these Hot Topic socks decided to use images of a clonetrooper, Artoo and his jet-propulsion rockets, and possibly a lightsaber-wielding Yoda (hard to tell from the picture).  Very sneaky, but SWPAS approves.  Now about some Maul, Jar Jar, Grievous, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme, etc. in the future ;)?

TPM Tsum Tsum Plush Toys Coming 4/5

March 16, 2016

Anakin And His Angel posted that the TPM Tsum Tsum plush toys will be available at Disney stores and at Disneystore.com on April 5.  It also has some pictures; they are way too adorable!  This batch includes Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Queen Amidala, lil’ Anakin, Sebulba, Darth Maul, and Jar Jar.  The ANH batch went up for sale in February.

Apparently these sets sell out fast, so be ready!  They’re $5.95 each.

Note that the 5/4/16 date on that ad is the non-North American way of putting the day before the month.  The other pics on AAHA say April 5.
