Everybody’s favorite new bounty hunter, Cad Bane, stars in the current issue of Star Wars Insider. It just showed up in my mailbox, meaning it’s on the newsstands now ;). Voice actor Corey Burton chats with the mag all about the popular baddie.

The current ish of TV Guide features several several fall previews of different sci-fi shows, including Clone Wars. Find it now at your local store!
Ashley “Ahsoka” Eckstein promoted a charity auction while at Comic Con that brings baseball and SW fandom together. Eckstein’s husband David plays for the San Diego Padres and one of his signature Louisville Slugger bats is up for auction to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego. The bat has been painted green like Ahsoka’s lightsaber and not only is the bat signed by the entire Clone Wars cast, it is also signed by six members of the Padres (including Mr. Eckstein, natch).
To make your bid, visit Padres.com and click on auction!
From Atom Films, the home of the annual Star Wars Fan Film Challenge:
Atom.com just announced a ton of great Star Wars news and contests that I think you and your fans would be interested in!
First off is Operation Olivia, our new partnership with Olivia Munn (“Attack of the Show”) where we ask filmmakers to unleash their inner geek and pitch Olivia their ideas for the perfect Star Wars fan film for her to star in. Yup, Olivia Munn could star in YOUR fan film! Get complete details over at http://olivia.atom.com.
Olivia actually joined forces with LucasFilms’ Bill Gannon and past Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge winners on Atom’s fan film panel at Comic-Con on Saturday night in front of nearly 500 fans to talk about the project. Click here to read more about her appearance and feel free to embed the two promo episodes with codes currently up on Olivia’s channel at http://olivia.atom.com.
We’re also happy to report the 2009 Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge winners were announced Friday at Comic-Con. Thanks so much and please let me know if you have any questions or feedback, or if you’d like some awesome pics from Comic-Con.
Oh, and one last bit of news – a sequel to Star Wars Gangsta Rap is coming soon to Atom – more details to follow!
Jake Lloyd got tossed onto the world stage at the age of 10 when he played lil’ Anakin in TPM. 10 years later, the 20-year-old sometimes finds it tough with his peers, as he tells Australia’s Sci-Fi in this video.
What do I think? Well, this is something I think every stage parent needs to keep in mind whenever it seems like it’s a great idea to put a child into show business. Most famous actors live in a bubble. Let’s face it, it’s not as though Ewan McGregor had to go back to working at Subway or something after appearing in this movie and while Natalie Portman went off to college, she didn’t go to Arizona State either. Jake had to go back to Darth Real Life and kids can be cruel. The post-TPM backlash in the media and on the internet probably didn’t help either. I don’t blame him for looking to get back into the entertainment industry to be honest.
In case you haven’t seen it yet, go check out the amazing CW Season Two trailer that debuted at Comic Con over the weekend.
This is almost the same as the one shown at Walt Disney World in May but with more stuff added.
Is it Fall yet???
In brief, I had a really good time. I met all of the major players from Clone Wars and they are all very cool people. If you go to Star Wars Fan Days in Texas later this year, be sure and say howdy and voice your support for the show!
The Spectacular was a bit of a letdown but at least we know there will be a Celebration V next year. The new CW S2 trailer is pretty awesome too.
I pre-ordered that CW 12″ Anakin figure from Sideshow Collectibles. The rest of humanity pre-orders it on Thursday at noon PST, but con attendees could order on the spot!
Got a few thousand dollars lying around? Maybe then you’ll be one of the lucky 25 people who can purchase these bronze statues (scroll down) that are replicas of Palpatine’s favorite pieces of decor. They’ll look imposing in your own home or office.
Head over to Sideshow Collectibles to check out a bunch of new stuff up for pre-order soon. Along with a 12″ Grand Admiral Thrawn from the Timothy Zahn books and a great diorama featuring the lightsaber battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan (it goes great with your Anakin vs. Obi-Wan diorama!) are two new 12″ figures: Clone Wars Anakin and AOTC Clonetrooper! Plus there’s a hot new Premium Format Yoda shish-kebabing a clonetrooper a la ROTS! And the first Star Wars Legendary Bust, Commander Cody!
(Anakin is mine, all mine!)
Not only does MTV Movies Blog has two never-before-seen stills from Clone Wars Season Two, it reveals that a very familiar character from the SW past (or future, I suppose) will join the “cast.” If you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t look!
Update: The Official StarWars.com Blog features more pictures! They will be on the Star Wars Pavilion at Comic Con!
