With the June issue of Vanity Fair promoting TFA out this week, it’s time to look back at the great VF issues (if for nothing else than Annie Leibowitz’s epic photos) promoting TPM, AOTC, and ROTS: The February 1999 issue. What an epic cover! The March 2002 issue. Utterly gorgeous!
This cover for the ROTS issue, released January 2005, was one for the ages, back when we really thought it was over. Hayden Christensen loved it so much he put up a copy of the photo in his room. Maybe they’ll do an updated one when Episode IX comes out.

That ROTS cover is simply the best and I’m gad I picked it up back in 2005. So awesome in every way.

I remember getting excited when I saw the ’99 VF cover and squeeing over the pictures, especially the one between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul. The 2005 cover was very poignant and I later borrowed the quote by Graham Greene for my blog.

Sorry, that typo was a result of me typing on my tablet. My finger slipped.

Agreed! I bought a couple of issues and had one of the covers professionally framed. It hangs in a place of honor on my wall over Anakin/Luke’s lightsaber.

The last one shows up streched.

I know. It’s a panoramic picture and hard to squeeze in it without spending hours I don’t have fiddling with it on some program.

Nothing to worry if it can’t be fixed. I assumed it was a problem with WordPress.

The unstretched panorama would be a good pic for a header, probably cropped.

Funny it show up normal on my iphone but stretched on my desktop. Usually it’s the other way around.

I remember getting excited when I saw TPM on the cover of Vanity Fair. I especially loved the picture of Obi-Wan fighting Darth Maul (that pose!). The ROTS cover with the entire cast of the saga was poignant and the quote by Graham Greene became part of my Tumblr blog.

My favorite VF cover is the 2002 one. It’s just too gorgeous for words.
