Buzzfeed’s “21 Photos That Prove 1999 Was The Greatest Year For Star Wars Fans”

Not that I think much of Buzzfeed or the dim bulbs who hang around there, but somebody posted a whole bunch of photos from the spring and summer of 1999 depicting the mania surrounding TPM’s release.  Of course the comments are full of bashers, so feel free to add balance to the Force.

By the way, I was acquainted with a number of people who were involved with the Uptown Theater line up.

Update:  Buzzfeed changed the title of the story a day later.  Losers.

I remember the Summer of 1999 and seeing The Phantom Menace for the first time. I loved it there and then and nothing has changed my mind almost nineteen years later. Truly an unforgettable experience. I remember being excited for the other two Prequel movies and loving as much as I did The Phantom Menace.

Not so much now, for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Too much negative feelings are associated with them. The TLJ trailer did nothing for me, although it was nice to see Carrie Fisher in it.

The Summer of 1999 will always be special to me. I loved The Phantom Menace and it’s such a shame that the Movies of today don’t follow it’s creativity.

13 times in two months. Loved TPM. Still do.

Loved TPM – and it progresses every time I see it. There’s more to consider. Only thing negative was the over abundance of SW “stuff” to buy. When things didn’t sell out, the decision was made to cut back on the number for AotC which is so disappointing because that was the film that had so much gorgeousness in it – costumes, locations etc etc I would have bought it all.
