Of course…of course Matt has to mentioned how disappointed fans were with the prequels and that TCW tried to restore the OT nuances. Sorry – but screw you.

Nonsense, nonsense, nonsense. Hayden Christensen delivered an amazing performance, I won’t backtrack a millimeter because of the haters. The Prequels are not an isolated case, just look at the absolute trash they praise, completely skimping over their glaring and numerous flaws while making a huge effort to bash anything that doesn’t adhere to their idea of a great movie. Their narratives are ludicrously inconsistent, they invent lies and keep repeating them ad nauseam. “Oh, just look at the human moments of Star Wars (Speaking of Leia with Luke on the Falcon after Obi Wan Kenobi was killed). Of course George is an idiot, Marcia Lucas did that.” With 0 evidence, in fact, all the evidence we do have is against it. Nothing against Marcia Lucas, but she has become the go to person to bash George Lucas, along with his friends at the barbecue, all, except Spielberg, of which were laughing at the FINISHED, and this is important, the screening of the FINISHED film, so is not like they had all that input. George was there, spending his money and time and effort, dying to get this film done while everyone was laughing behind him. Speaking of using other people to bash George Lucas, this is an ever increasing strategy by the haters. While they get exposed they make concessions, but only to bash George, most notably to Hayden Christensen. I speak this as a Hayden fan, they say “Oh, Hayden is not a bad actor, it’s all George’s fault.”, but what they really wanna do is to try to diverge attention from the fact that they bashed Hayden, Jake Lloyd, John Knoll and the magnificent ILM work, Trisha Bigger and countless other people and now that their narrative is crumbling they wanna jump off the boat. Don’t buy it, Hayden’s performance in Star Wars was amazing, better than Shattered Glass (2003) and much, much better than Jumper (2006). The thing is, they like the usual hyperactive acting, very common in Marvel canned movies and present in Jumper, which Hayden is perfectly capable of doing, but I find it really poor. When he delivered an excellent performance in Outcast (2014) they ripped him up and down anyway. They will do this bashing routine and promote only what they want to promote.

Really disappointed with Matt Lanter’s attitude towards the prequels here… lost a lot of respect for him.

  3. SWPN Says:

Yeah, it’s sad that he chose to resort to the cheap pandering of what he thinks might give him geek cred. I was looking forward to hearing about what George said to him on their first meeting, but sadly he didn’t share it…

Definitely worth watching. I didn’t really think his comments were bashing. I don’t think he mentioned his personal view at all, but even if he’s not a fan, or prefers “Clone Wars” to the prequels, that’s fine. I disagree, but I don’t mind people having different opinions, it’s the whiny, condescending crowd that insists “everyone knows and must agree that the prequels are terrible” I can’t stand. I was surprised Sam Witwer had to correct the writers and Filoni regarding Padme and Shmi having met in Episode I. Sheesh, good thing he was there and not afraid to speak up, you’d think someone would have caught that beforehand.

I agree. I don’t think he or JAT were trashing Hayden or the PT, they were discussing why the TCW stories needed to be told. There was so much story that couldn’t be fit into the three movies, and regarding Anakin, a lot of his character arc was there too. The “teenage angst” to brooding, one second away from turning to the Dark Side arc from the PT is connected via the affable, good person presentation from TCW. I think that’s what he was getting at.

    • SWPN Says:

He wasn’t bashing, but he was pandering to the vocal crowd.
