Uh, Where’s Padmé?

The Wookiee Gunner posted images and info on the upcoming Forces of Destiny line meant to tie in with the animated series.  Looks like wave 1 consists of Disney chicks only, with two different Leias coming out sometime after that.  Allegedly Ahsoka is due out “later this year.”

One character conspicuously absent is Padmé, even though she is supposed to be featured in the Forces of Destiny series.  Of course, it’s not the first time they’ve had amnesia on the prequel trilogy’s main heroine…

Somebody give Padmé a novel already…at least! Maybe even a while series…or some comics…

this is bulls*t the disrespect towards padme has to stop she’s the mother of luke and leia for crying out loud

Padmé is one of, if not the most misunderstood character in Star Wars. Everyone jumped to the conclusion that she died of a broken heart in ROTS and accused her of being a weak character as a result. To George’s credit he has let his work stand without spoon feeding his audience all of the answers. Some of that audience has started to catch up but a lot are still in the dark.

I’ll admit I was worried when Ahsoka was being introduced in the lead-up to the Clone Wars computer-animated series that she was somehow intended to “replace” a Padme “they couldn’t write for any more”… I was quite happy to be proved wrong in the introductory theatrical feature, anyway. I know I started discounting the few lines of dialogue a great many people seem fixated on and forming a theory of my own based on what struck me about the way the scene was cut together, but it’s not a theory I’ve seen many others bring up. We may indeed have been left to “form our own opinions” (as in other places); it’s just that not everyone seems able to form opinions that lead to positive interpretations.

I get that it’s a problem, but, I still don’t think we should get angry about this. Instead of making complaints or angry threats to Disney about it, let’s ask (politely and respectfully) the people working on Forces of Destiny on Twitter, Jen Muro being one of them, to put one out. At least Padme is part of the merchandise for Forces of Destiny by being on a book cover for one of their yet to be released stories, seen here: http://www.laughingplace.com/w/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/i-wkvzdHk-X2.jpg. So, it’s not like she’s COMPLETELY left out of the merchandise for F.O.D.

Also, Ahsoka is getting a figure. There’s a pic of it online here: http://68.media.tumblr.com/10f90b72c6e7ca8ed16d2166bed4ff1b/tumblr_opcfp5waqx1vqixjbo1_1280.jpg

This is not me defending Disney’s questionable decision for why Padme is not getting a toy. This is just me being neutral on this topic without causing backlash from either side.
