No New Prequel Era Comics Planned…For Now

A fan asked Marvel SW editor Jordan White if there will be titles based on Jango Fett or Cad Bane any time soon:

Based on this response I figured we won’t see anything PT-related any time soon:

White responded here:

Obi-Wan & Anakin #2 comes out tomorrow. Its first issue went into a second printing and this issue is already going into a second printing. It still is important to support PT titles AND let Marvel know we want to see more. It is entirely possible something is in the pipeline and it can’t be announced yet. Marvel likes to save new title announcements for convention season, particularly at SDCC and NYCC. But with a new movie out and more coming, Marvel is going to be under a lot of pressure to publish related titles for those first, leaving less room for titles based on Lucas’s films and Clone Wars.

They said that there were no “immediate” plans last time then fan demand came in which is why we got the Obi-Wan and Anakin book. Figure things at Lucasfilm and branches are in full swing and they have their plate full. It’s also very early in the year.

Well, they could still adapt unaired Clone Wars arcs into novels like they did with the final 8 episodes on Ventress. My pick for another Clone Wars novel would be the Ahsoka/Bo-Katan/Siege of Mandalore arc from Season 8.

Yeah, I REALLY want to know what the Seige of Mandalore was like.

Here’s another idea. How about a series detailing Ahsoka’s adventures between “The Wrong Jedi” and “Fire Across the Galaxy?” Marvel, you’re welcome.

I don’t know if it’s just kind words, but White said this in a new interview :

“IGN: With an actual cartoon rabbit! [Laughs] Finally, what would you say to fans to get them excited for what’s coming up with all the Star Wars comics?

White: We’ve got stuff planned at this point for fans of every era of Star Wars. Like I said, we started at the one core place, and I think having grown that and having shown that we have a wealth of Star Wars that I think matches that of the fans and that we want to do right by it, we’re starting to expand into more and more of the world and more of the timeline. We have something planned for every kind of Star Wars fan and every fan of every movie and every cartoon. It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be exactly the Star Wars that we all know and love, but all-new adventures and terrific good times.”

Well it seems like Marvel doesn’t want my money.
Dark Horse never pulled stuff like this, and they usually published comics for multiple eras at once to please all fans. Plus their Star Wars republic comics, and stuff like TWOTW scarlet traces comics had better plots.

I’ll be picking up my copy of Obi & Anakin today and am looking forward to it. I’m also just taking a more optimistic view of things as they continue at Marvel. The PT and TCW era are established as canon and already referenced throughout all the main line comic series, “Star Wars” and “Darth Vader”. Not all of their series were meant to be ongoing anyway, such as the “Lando” and “Leia” series. I don’t think there should panic in the streets. As Marvel continues to handle the brand they’re going to try out new ideas to stay creative, maybe even Old Republic-set series. Again, I’m just staying optimistic!

Oh cool. That was me. I’m Crazy Han Solo! I made the News! Whoooo!
