Significance of Meals in the PT

starwars.com has an interesting look at the meal scenes in the prequel trilogy (there’s a previous installment about similar scenes in Eps IV-VI) and what they mean. Don’t laugh! They’re not stuck in there for no reason.

One of my favorite scenes from the prequels is depicts the meal shared in TPM- Shmi prepared it but also had the most poignant line: He was meant to help you. Qui Gon’s reply to the very young Anakin’s assertion that Jedi can’t be killed – was a sad (and prophetic) denial in poetic fashion. This was also Jake Lloyd’s best scene – IMO, of course. He was solid throughout.

As I saw this post, I was thinking a bit of how Revenge of the Sith is the one Star Wars movie without a meal in it (although I suppose that with Return of the Jedi we have the see the “meals” as being Jabba eating a frog and Han fortunately only being threatened with being cooked by the Ewoks). The post linked to, though, did manage to bring up a “table” in that first-mentioned movie…
