Marvel’s Look Back At TPM

Now that Marvel is the official comics publisher of all things Star Wars, it’s taking a look back at the existing movie saga, starting off with TPM.

Ok, but are they going to write new stories that take place between eps 1 and 2?

I think, given time, they will. They’re playing it all kinds of safe with their launch titles, put this article series, which is unabashedly pro-Saga gives me hope. Also, any potential spinoff film set during the prequel time period will increase chances of a comic in that era as well.

I still can’t get over the fact that ‘Darth Plaguies’ is a “Legends” novel. That novel was a gem!

It also gives me a strange kind of hope that the comments section is 2/3 pro-Saga, and 1/3 people who don’t like Star Wars at all.

Disney is going to find out (and Dave Filoni has already experienced this when hiring younger crew members) that upcoming fans don’t have the vitriol toward the PT that the older fans do. I’m just glad they’re acknowledging that the PT exists for now.

Also glad to see some official acknowledgement.

I helped watch over some kids during a Halloween party a few weeks ago. One of them said that Darth Maul was his favorite villain and that Maul’s double-bladed lightsaber was really cool. When I asked him which Star Wars movie was his favorite, he said “the first one” because that shows you how everything started. He was either talking about TPM or ANH, but either way he was clearly pro-prequel.

That’s the attitude that I’ve seen from most people in real life. Disney probably knows it too, and they just talk about the “practical effects” during interviews to appease the media (which is run by cynical middle aged men). Billion dollar corporations don’t do business by just looking at the older and most negative segments of its fandom.
