Throwback Thursday: Leeanna Walsman In “Farscape”

I never got into Australian-produced sci-fi t.v. series “Farscape” (I believe it aired on SyFy in the U.S.) but like many Australian productions of the late ’90s-early ’00s, it featured at least a couple of actors who ended up with a role in AOTC or ROTS.

One of them was Zam Wesell herself, actress Leeanna Walsman. She appeared in a 2001 episode of the show as “Borlik.”

Didn’t know that was Zam in Farscape! Guess I’ll have to watch that episode again…

Farscape was (is) a fantastic show, and an absolute blast for any fan of science fiction, smart (and often irreverent) humor, and memorable characters. The show is essentially an epic love story between the two main characters, John and Aeryn, and there are many twists and turns along the way. There are also many references to Star Wars (and Star Trek) throughout, as John throws out hilarious pop culture references in nearly every episode.

One that stands out in my mind is a reference to a certain little green guy on a swamp planet. Aeryn’s clueless expression really makes the scene:

I always felt that Zam Wesell was one of the most ignored characters in Star Wars. I always liked her design and personality (Mainly through the Bounty Hunter video game). It’s a shame since Jango had a really good EU backstory.
