Undeniable Fact About ROTS #1: It Won Two People’s Choice Awards

Okay, so there are three trophies in this picture.

The People’s Choice Awards, the annual program where Hollywood pretends it’s the award that “truly matters” because “you the audience votes on them,” had picked something else besides TPM in 2000 and blew off AOTC altogether in 2003. But those casting ballots made up for the slights in 2006 when they picked ROTS as Favorite Motion Picture and Favorite Dramatic Motion Picture of 2005. Suck it, you overrated “Crash.” Anyone else remember George Lucas dropping by to pick up the awards?

    Who determines the nominees?

Don’t they preselect a bunch of films and the “public” can only choose one of those preselected films then?

  2. M. Marshall Says:

I vividly remember when Lucas picked up the award and gave his speech. He was near tears when he said that he was not popular with critics (who listens to them?) and film execs (they’re a bunch of men in business suits). But the award was for the reason he made movies: for the people.
