Throwback Thursday: Ian McDiarmid In “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”

Long before Yoda’s showdown against Darth Sidious in ROTS, Yoda directed Sidious in a Steve Martin comedy!

1988’s “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” was directed by Frank Oz (so maybe this is a double throwback) and it starred Martin and Michael Caine as rival con men who place a bet on who can first swindle an heiress out of some money. McDiarmid had a small part in the film. I have to say the “welcome to hell” line is delivered in a rather Sithly manner, heh heh.

One of my all time favorite comedies. Smart film with great characters, a brilliant script, and superb directing by Frank Oz.

“Excuse me, may I go the the bathroom first?”
    “Of course you may.”
    “……………….Thank you!”
