Throwback Thursday: James Arnold Taylor In “The Animatrix”

Anyone else remember “The Animatrix,” a straight-to-video anthology of animated shorts taking place within the universe of the Matrix flicks? I think it was released shortly before “The Matrix: Reloaded” in 2003. Anyway, it was while perusing the IMDB that the long, storied career of Clone Wars’s star James Arnold Taylor included voicing the main character Ash in “The Animatrix”‘s “A Detective Story.”

You can watch the entire ten minute short here, bearing in mind it’s not quite kid stuff.

I remember “The Animatrix,” although mostly because of my anime fandom (there was that little issue with The Matrix being retroactively added to that enormous list of movies proclaimed far superior to TPM, and I’m afraid I can hold grudges for a while… The funny thing may be that while I was troubled by the movie’s police station shootout the one time I got around to watching it due to an impression of the heroes being overpowered for their challenge, I felt very forgiving towards the two sequels.)

While I haven’t really returned to “The Animatrix” ever since buying a used copy from a local video chain store (now long gone), due to an impression it was a little too eager to suggest through a succession of downbeat endings only Neo and company were really capable of battling the Matrix, it’s interesting to hear James Arnold Taylor was involved with it.
