Throwback Thursday: Rose Byrne In “Dallas Doll”

Another prequel star who’s done pretty well for herself is Rose “Dormé” Byrne. Known only in Australia until her turn in AOTC, Byrne has since appeared in movies like “Troy,” “Bridesmaids,” and “X Men: First Class” along with the FX t.v. show “Damages.”

Her acting debut was in 1994’s “Dallas Doll” at age 15. All I know about it is that it’s some weird Aussie movie starring Sandra Bernhard.

She’s been in lot of blockbusters but she’s also made little films that I really appreciate like “Adam” – about a girl and a boy who has Asperger’s Syndrome which is not exactly a hot topic for a film. She and Hugh Dancy made this little film sing and give hope to a lot of folks who can relate.

She’s also in the scene with Padmé, Mace, Yoda, Palpatine etc in Palpatine’s office – where he suggests and “old friend” like Obi-Wan could get her away from Coruscant (and the chance to vote for the creation of that army for the Republic). I think that’s where we first see Dormé. There’s a great blooper from another Dormé scene – in Padmé’s bedroom where Hayden is so into his Anakin character mows down Dormé and Captain Typho as he’s running out of her room. The blooper shows Rose, Natalie and Jay all cracking up.
