Jimmy Smits On “Miami Vice”

Another future prequel star had an early role on “Miami Vice.” Just before he got cast on “L.A. Law,” Jimmy Smits appeared in the first season episode “Brother’s Keeper” that aired back in 1984.

I apologize for the obvious camera aimed at the television video but it was the best I could find that featured Smits:

Poor Smits, always doomed to be blown up.

Speaking of being blown up, I remember reading – I think it was before the first DVD edition of the saga – that they had shot a scene of Bail Organa looking up from Alderaan and seeing the Death Star in the sky before the planet is destroyed. Anybody else remember that?

I remember that Bail Organa rumor at the time.

There was also the rumor of Natalie Portman filming Return of the Jedi scenes to coincide with Leia’s tale of her mother.

Looking back at the Blu-Ray deleted material, it’s interesting to see Bail Organa was in Episode I, played by a different actor. It’s good that they ultimately chose a different path.

Fantastic rumors! Wish they would have happened. Jimmy seems like one of those rarities: nice, nice celeb. I saw him very briefly at the Toronto Film Festival a few years back and he was a bit sheepish and gosh-er-roo, who me? ish. Adorable. I remember Pablo Hildago mentioning repeatedly that he was one of the nicest guys on the set.

  4. Eduardo Jencarelli Says:

    If true, this is outrageous.

What about folks who don’t subscribe to Apple? Left behind because of exclusivity?
