Another E-Tailer Bashes The Prequels

The “Eps IV-VI > Eps I-III” banner on ThinkGeek is nothing compared to what’s on Superherostuff.com if you click on the link to all Star Wars merchandise:

“A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. …”, the Galactic Civil War was fought, with the ragtag Rebel Alliance battling the Galactic Empire in what is now considered a national epic of good vs evil, democracy vs empire, for the United States. George Lucas managed to turn a beautiful story, episodes IV, V, VI, into a prequel series of total fracking trash! The romantic, lovable, nostalgic sci-fi hero/rogue story was utterly destroyed by the likes of Anikan (sic), Jar Jar Binks and the boring, yet sexy, Queen Amidala! Thank you George! Now pass the friggin’ torch!

I’m not sure which is more offensive: the gratuitous prequel bashing or the poor writing.

They mock and disrespect Lucas as well as half the saga, yet they want to make dough off of his creations. That includes the Darth Maul t-shirts, from that “prequel series of fracking trash,” they are selling here. Or the Maul belt buckle for sale here. Or the clonetrooper button here. Or the Clone Wars keychains, including one of that “Anikan” here. Plus there are patches, wristbands, tin/lunchboxes, license plate thingies, stickers, and toys.

They hate the prequels yet have a bunch of prequel stuff to sell and make money off of? How about on Prequel Appreciation Day, we tell everyone to boycott them, considering they don’t deserve our business.

  2. Simon Maxwell Says:

Yes, it’s the hypocrisy of people like this that gets to me. They think of the prequels as trash and yet, as you point out, they’re perfectly happy to make money from these “trashy” films.

No, like most hating these days, this is just too stupid to be offended by.
It just reads like one long, run-on sentence.

And another note, I can’t say SW has ever been a “national epic” for the “United States.” What would all the international fans say?

And on another note, what the hell is this about – “The romantic, lovable, nostalgic sci-fi hero/rogue story?” Can’t say I’ve ever thought of SW as a “nostalgic sci-fi hero/rogue story” either.

At least they realize Amidala’s sexy.

That erudite and well-reasoned paragraph reminds me of a particularly articulate bedwetter who made a list of “Directors Who Should Have Directed the Prequels.” Lucas, said the bedwetter, used to be an OK director, but: anyone can loose (sic) they’re (sic) ‘swag’.

Among the directors the bedwetter named were Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Frances (sic) Ford Coppola, and David Lynch, who was “supposed to direct ROTJ.” Uh…no, actually, he was not “supposed” to direct it. He was offered the job by Lucas and he turned Lucas down.

And if they’re going to complain about “Anikan,” they should at least spell his “fracking” name correctly! Also, it is, indeed, a tad hypocritical to try and make money off what you claim “utterly destroyed” the alleged “nostalgic sci-fi hero/rogue story” you purport to adore.

There’s more to the story. I’ll keep you guys posted.

“A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. …”, the Galactic Civil War was fought, with the ragtag Rebel Alliance battling the Galactic Empire. George Lucas managed to extend a beautiful story, episodes IV, V, VI, into a prequel series, episodes I, II, III, of pure awesomeness! The romantic, lovable, nostalgic sci-fi hero/rogue story was kept alive by the likes of the heroic Anakin Skywalker, the hilarious Jar Jar Binks, and the sexy Queen Amidala! Thank you George! Keep up the good work!

    Much better! 🙂
