Clone Wars Movie One Year Old Today

TFN pointed out that today, August 15, marks the first anniversary of the Clone Wars “movie.” Wow, that sure went by fast, didn’t it?

It’s an experiment not likely to be repeated again if one could go by Dave Filoni’s comments at this year’s Comic Con but if the idea was to get people to watch the show, then it worked pretty well despite a box office take much lower than the SW films and unwarranted spit roasting it got from critics. All CW needed was about 2 or 3 million weekly viewers to be considered a hit on Cartoon Network and the season finale had over 4 million viewers, even beating the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. The growing buzz over Season Two promises to expand CW’s viewership even more.

CW also sold a LOT of merchandise, particularly toys and books, to another crop of young SW fans as well as long-time fans.

So, happy first anniversary to CW and lots of success in the future!

Happy 1st Anniversary Clone Wars! I wore my 8/15/8 Cap. Rex Clone Wars shirt today. I don’t get a chance to watch the film, but that’s okay I did last weekend, deleted scenes as well. I’m REALLY looking forward to MANY, MANY more Episodes! I hope they don’t stop at season 2, I hope they keep it going for at least 4 or 5 seasons.
