Eric’s review of the “The Wrong Jedi” mentions the possibility that this may be the end of the series, but does so without any protest. In fact, it’s more of a ‘it was fun while it lasted’ shrug. “Whether or not “The Wrong Jedi” is the series finale, the team behind The Clone Wars can take heart: they produced a stunning episode,” and, “If “The Wrong Jedi” ends up serving as the series finale, it has truly been a wild and thrilling ride, and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my thoughts every step of the way.”
What I want to know is if crew members are still collecting paychecks in San Francisco and Singapore. If there IS going to be a season six, work would be continuing on those episodes (we know work has been started). Layoffs, transfers and furloughs would be a clear indication of what the future holds.
Sorry to be a downer really. It doesn’t bring me joy. No, I don’t have a direct connection, but I’ve seen this stuff happen from the inside of other production companies for 20 years now. My experience (which is only that) is that when regimes change hands and new people take leadership roles, most often the worst fears prove to be true. That’s not to say this will be the case when it comes to TCW, but I would be very surprised (and thrilled, of course) if they announced the series was continuing. My cynicism has a basis in the history I’ve witnessed firsthand. I hope history proves me wrong.
My feelings tell me that this is the end of The Clone Wars. If that is the case, then Star Wars is NOT in good hands. Star Wars: 1313 has now been shelved, looks like TCW is getting the ax as well. Everything was going so well and now THIS!
