TFN posted a link to Amazon’s pre-order for “Star Wars: Frames” in paperback. This was the insanely expensive volume of shots from all 6 existing Star Wars films personally chosen by Papa George. The hardcover was thousands of dollars. This version is less than a hundred. Due out in November!

Aaaahhhh, too awesome!!
I’d always been hankering to see which shots he chose, and why!

Just so you know…Rinzler’s “Making of Return of the Jedi” tome is finally available for pre-order too! Maybe spread the word because they are wonderful books in series that should really keep going.

Yeah, I’m definitely buying that one.

I am interested to hear the news, but have to admit that, having parsimoniously bought the paperback edition of “The Making of Star Wars,” I’ve been waiting for a comparable paperback of “The Making of The Empire Strikes Back” for quite a while now… maybe I’ll just have to resign myself to shelling out for the hardcovers.

Just scroll down a bit on Amazon and while it has no image available, it does show a Oct 22, 2013 release.

The making of ROTJ is a must. Have all the other making of books, there a MUST have. I’m phsyed about Frames always want it but def couldn’t swing $3000 on it. Will be a welcomed addition to my Star Wars library.

It’ll be liking having the maker’s hand on your shoulder — well, his one hand — while he’s gently caressing your buttocks with the other. Okay, maybe the buttocks-thing is pure invention on my part. He’ll be caressing the buttocks in your brain, though. This may be one time that George Lucas would be justified in quoting/paraphrasing RedLetterMedia for the blurb on the back cover: “You may not have noticed these exact frames, but your brain did!”
Really looking forward to this. With the stupidly-high price of the original — surely, not even gourmet fried Ewok mixed with essence of Gungan eye-stalk costs that much? — I had rationalized that I didn’t need this, but at a price that’s a tiny fraction of the original, it could just have turned into an essential purchase. Hell, I could buy TWO copies, and cut one up and stick all the frames on my wall; or as many as would fit. That’s not a bad idea, actually…
P.S. Totally random factoid. There are meant to be 1,416 hand-picked images from Papa George himself, right? Those integers, split right down the middle, “rhyme” with the fictional and real age of Queen Amidala/Natalie Portman in Episode I! I’ve said before that the prequel trilogy — in some ways, the entire damn saga — is actually Padme’s story; and I think GL says as much about Episode I on the DVD commentary. Just a quirky link.

Yeah, I may have to have this. And love Rinzler. His ROTS set the standard. Can’t wait for him to do a big deluxe TPM and AOTC.

I hope Rinzler plans on big ole deluxe editions of I-III.
