starwars.com’s blog has begun a new feature by Big Shiny Robot’s Bryan Young on the influences on the films.
I found that after reading his piece at HuffPo on why we should drag ourselves out of bed to watch Clone Wars, which so happens to have a preview clip of this week’s episode.
And here’s another sneak PEEK (ahem, “The Daily”) with Dave Filoni.

Did you know that when Liam Neeson got the part of Qui-Gon Jinn, he not only watched the original trilogy, he also watched Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai”-which Lucas admits in the Criterion Collection interview as being his favorite Kurosawa film.

I was interested to see the first link, especially given it means Bryan Young is getting some exposure on the official weblog. (There’s a certain part of me that suspects some people declare influences on Star Wars with the thought it somehow reflects badly on George Lucas…) I did record a DVD of “The Hidden Fortress” off of Turner Classic Movies a while ago, but I just haven’t found the time to watch it yet.
