This should be a place were we embrace our love for Episodes I, II & III. Not to bash the bashers. Not that I wouldn’t like to bash them. We should focus on our love for these movies. And save our distaste for when Lucasfilm needs a kick in the butt. I don’t bother with the forms anymore. I do call Lucasfilm out on their B.S. we I see fit.

Oh yeah. Tom was great on the panel too. They all where. But, those three really stood out.

Fair enough, Stefan. And fair enough, LP/MP. Stefan, your last remark clinches it. Kaminski actually HAS insulted the intelligence of other fans by saying things like “raise your standards”. Had he not got quite so haughty with his anti-Lucas rhetoric, I might never have made the former post. I did just think that something needed saying on the matter. In general, though, this is the “Star Wars Prequel Appreciation Society”, not the “Slam Other People We Don’t Like Society”, so yeah.

@J.Reeves: I do not think that this comment section is the right spot to discuss whether Kaminski is a “****” or not. Not because of my opinion on Kaminski, but because I think it is “too” off-topic. His articles are interesting, yes, and he may make some good points. However, I also think he is too negative overall. I can however fully understand why you wrote your comment – Kaminski seems to be one of the main argument sources of the anti-PT people.

Funny thing BTW: I once read a comment by someone who only likes EP 4-6 but who stated that EP 2 was the prequel episode that felt most like a Star Wars episode to him.
(I think that there are almost as many ways to enjoy a Star Wars movie as there are fans, so I do not have any problems with people that do not like certain episodes – unless they tell me I’m an idiot for not “getting Star Wars”. Yeah right.)

Bob, I had some problems with speech discernment, as well. The whole thing, start to finish, except for that tiny insert at the end, from a different source, it seems, is rather echoic, and it’s hard to make out certain words, unless you’re straining to listen. Sadly, that’s often the way these sorts of ad hoc recordings go. We’ve gotten good with picture quality, but sound is still a little hit-and-miss with a live recording. I got the gist of what was said, however. Nothing too radical or exciting for me, and nothing I haven’t heard before, really. But nice enough to hear it, anyway — finally. Woo!

Michael Kaminski is a **** — can you say “****” on here? Sod it. You can take that from someone who has clashed with him several times after initially giving him the benefit of the doubt and even rallying to his defence when he first published his e-book (as it was then) to TFN. I can barely believe that “Save Star Wars” website he now also runs. I actually have located MULTIPLE instances of Lucas saying that the original artist SHOULD be able to alter their films. Kaminski cut out the original remark from Lucas’ Berne Convention speech where he said likewise; naturally, he doesn’t include the future variants, either. On his “Secret History” website, he also wrote up an article called “The Nature Of The Beast” — a reflection on his pet topic, the prequels, what else? He starts it off with an attack on prequel fans, telling them that if they liked AOTC in particular, they should “raise [their] standards”. The full remark: “This article may be a bit controversial for those who really love the prequels due to the critical nature of it. If you are the type of person who does not cringe at the romantic dialog in Attack of the Clones , (sic) you might want to stop reading–or better yet, raise your standards.”. Another choice remark: “I think we have to stop fooling ourselves that the prequels were well written. They weren’t.” The article was then re-written and these comments were removed. But if you know where, or rather, how, to look, you can find the original. On the other hand, his SHOSW book is a decent enough read, and a handy reference source in its own right, but it doesn’t offer anything truly probing or definitive: it’s all surface stitching. Yet Kaminski runs his mouth off in editorial pieces about Lucas and his purported atrophied skills. And how we should all hate the prequels. Then he misrepresents Lucas as a champion of artist rights for good measure. Despite clarifying some story points in his book, it feels to me that he has only sown more negativity, discord, and confusion, really. And with typical prequel-basher condescension, cloaked behind a veneer of authority and wisdom.
