AOTC 3D Footage Shown At Celebration

The good news is based on Tweets from attendees at the first panel (there will be a couple more today) the footage looks amazing! People are saying it looks even more three dimensional than TPM.

The bad news? No release date. The only hint given was from Dennis Muren, who said that TPM took about a year to convert and AOTC will take about the same amount of time. I know they started on AOTC early this year, which would make the earliest release date February 2013.

Update: Bombad Radio has audio of the panel here.

Update 2: IGN thought it looked great too.

Isn’t there supposed to be some big super-secret surprise thing tomorrow, or am I mixed up? Maybe they’ll announce it then, because it seems kind of silly to not put out the release date when you’ve got thousands of your most hardcore fans gathered in one place.

That would be the Super Secret Closing Ceremony tomorrow. With George Lucas dropping by at two panels today, Clone Wars Season Five spoilers, and Star Wars Detours so far, I have no idea what the heck they can do to top those.

February would make sense, as that was when TPM came out.

  4. Mike S Says:

Bring it on! It’s the only reason I would go to a Movie theatre.

Can NOT wait for AOTC 3D! Man I wish I was there.

You don’t want to sell me rubbish 3D. You want to go home and rethink your life. Nice that there’s some early positive buzz! Clones will rock hard with an extra dimension. Just think of the speeder chase. And we’re not gonna know where to look during that relentless arena battle. YES!
