Today was also the first Star Wars Detours panel at Celebration VI, which offered a first look at the comedy animated series from Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, and Todd Grimes.
Detours is set between Eps III and IV but there are prequel and Clone Wars references aplenty as you can see in this trailer:
There are other clips of the show floating around; it looks like Kid Safe Robot Chicken. The show will feature Clone Wars veterans Catherine Taber and Dee Bradley Baker as well as Ahmed Best as Jar Jar. Also coming on board are Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Donald Faison, Zachary Levi, Felicia Day, Weird Al Yankovic, Todd McFarlane, Breckin Meyer, and Todd Grimes.
No word yet on when the show will debut or on what network.

I was there, for the first session, not the 2nd when George made an appearance…drat! The entire house was rocking with laughter and Seth just seems to be always “on”. Very receptive, the audience was…to Seth, to the Detour. Lots of familiar folks are involved as vocal talent. I loved when Seth said Leia was a spoiled brat who would inevitably turn into a bitch…. all tongue in cheek, of course. He does a great demanding Jewish princess spiel. It was cool to see how geeked THEY were at watching the clips themselves – they just popped a squat right on the stage floor and watched along with us and there was undoubtedly a very visible sign of relief at the overwhelmingly positive response from the audience and they acknowledged that – that until that first reaction, they really don’t know if what they’re doing will connect… but really, they should. It’s that consistently funny. But then again, so was Star Wars in 60 Minutes. Outstanding!

After watching the clips available online, this one is not for me. I found the humour to be a little too typical and juvenile for my tastes. Lucas was right and although Seth Green didn’t agree, Lucas said this show was for 5 year olds. Again – I agree with George.
Enjoy ‘Detours’ folks – I’ll wait for more Clone Wars, Star Wars: 1313 and the Live Action Series instead.
