H/T to Eddie for forwarding this piece from “Action Figure Insider.” In it, Lucas is defended, which means soon the internet mob will swoop down upon the author to punish him for his heresy. Still, I’m glad somebody’s willing to take the bullet.

The author of that also wrote this fascinating account of working on product design for TPM-era Pepsi/Frito-Lay Star Wars premiums:

The blogger Mark Huges mentions TPM in his (inflation-adjusted) list of the ten greatest summer blockbusters of all time… and he does so quite positively IMHO! http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2012/07/13/top-ten-biggest-summer-blockbusters-of-all-time/

Turning, the tide seems to be. Hurry it up, it should.

I think Hughes’ point of view is the one of the average movie goer – something like “not the Second Coming, but lovely fantasy movies nevertheless” (I quote DrewAtHitFlix on the Forecast
). Who knows what people will think in ten years.

YES. That is a great piece and I enjoyed the slam at DC Comics New 52 which is DC’s attempt to become edgy and grown-up and it is a complete fail. As someone who came to the saga as an adult, I’ve always said that people’s feelings for the prequels versus the OT was part expectation and part childhood nostalgia. And as I’ve seen it with my own nieces and nephews, their feelings on the saga are quite different from those of people who grew up watching the OT. The tide is changing.
